The
Departament de Matemàtica Aplicada I is in charge of teaching mathematics
at the ETSEIB and
EPSEB, as well as several courses at
the FME. The subjects
covered include algebra, calculus, numerical analysis, topology and differential
equations.
The research
of the department is mainly centered in the Mathematical Systems Theory, the Cohomology
of Algebraic Manifolds, the Partial Differential Equations, Dynamical Systems
and Celestial Mechanics. The department also have a research group dedicated to
the History of Science and Technique.
The
research groups are strongly related with similar groups in other catalan and
foreign universisties. The financial support comes from several organizations
like DGICYT, CIRIT, CEE i NATO.
The
staff of the department consists of 63 faculty members, 9 postdocs, 11 undergraduate
granted students and 5 administrative persons.
